It appears the cast and crew working on the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse sequel only have the silent treatment in response to anyone fishing for new details.

There's so much anticipation for the last Spider-Verse installment that any new information helps tide fans over until Beyond the Spider-Verse drops. Details remain scarce, though, and Spider-Verse composer Daniel Pemberton revealed to GamesRadar everyone is intentionally silent on the project's progress. "Don't talk about it," he joked when asked where he's at with the musical score's development. "Everyone in this film, there's a sort of pact, no one will talk about the next film because we're all still in recovery from the second one."

Pemberton's comment confirms the cast and crew's vow to keep a tight lid on the sequel. Across the Spider-Verse's co-director Kemp Powers shared Pemberton's commitment, saying people are so desperate for details on Beyond the Spider-Verse that anything he says is likely misread or misquoted. "I've been sworn to silence. As soon as you say Beyond the Spider-Verse, my mouth closes," he asserted. It's reported that Shameik Moore, the voice of Miles Morales in all Spider-Verse films, already knows what happens in Beyond the Spider-Verse. It's likely he's just as silent about details as anyone else involved in the project.

Spider-Verse from Obscure to Mainstream

Pemberton recalls a time when anticipation for the Spider-Verse trilogy wasn't as impressive. He said he was sold on Into the Spider-Verse the moment he was onboarded, but people unaware of the vision were not as enthusiastic. "What was funny about doing the first film was no one seemed to really care about it," he recounted. "I remember thinking, 'This is one of the most special movies I've ever worked on.' And I would tell people, 'Oh my god, I'm working on maybe the best project I've ever worked on.' 'Oh, what is it?' 'It's Spider-Man.' 'Oh, another Spider-Man film?' And you'd see their interest just disappear."

The first two Spider-Verse films won fans and critics over with balanced focus on story and style. The unique animation flair stood out from the regular fare of features recently released, and the well-developed story arcs successfully kept audiences engaged. With film producers confirming they're willing to delay the third film's release until the product meets quality standards, fans have no choice but to sit tight and just wait for the film to hit theaters.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was initially slated for a March 24, 2024 release, but was rescheduled pending the end of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
