A new free-to-play My Hero Academia video game is on the way.

The trailer for Ultra Rumble, which is available on Bandai Namco Entertainment's official YouTube channel, highlights the title's battle royale-style gameplay that pits eight teams of three against each other. It also teases many of the playable characters, including Katsuki Bakugo, Izuku Midoriya, Tsuyu Asui, Mr. Compress and Dabi. Ultra Rumble will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on Sept. 28 and for PC on Sept. 29.

The ongoing My Hero Academia manga by Kohei Horikoshi made its debut in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in July 2014, and the series follows Midoriya -- an earnest and courageous high school student -- as he strives to follow in the footsteps of his idol, All Might, and become the best superhero possible. My Hero Academia has experienced a profound level of success; financially speaking, it stands as one of the best-selling manga of all time with over 85 million copies in circulation globally. In terms of critical recognition, it won Best Manga at the Sugoi Japan Awards in 2017 and at the Harvey Awards in 2019.

Moreover, Horikoshi's work has spawned a massive multimedia franchise that includes light novel adaptations, manga spin-offs, tie-in movies, stage plays, and of course, video game releases. Beyond the upcoming launch of Ultra Rumble, a new gaming collaboration between the iconic superhero-themed series and Fornite was recently announced. Three new skins inspired by fan-favorite characters Shoto Todoroki, Eijiro Kirishima and Mina Ashido are now available for purchase in Epic Games' popular battle royale game.

Likely the most well-known adaptation of My Hero Academia is Studio Bones' anime, which premiered in April 2016 and has produced over 130 episodes so far. The show stars Daiki Yamashita (Blue Period) as Midoriya alongside Nobuhiko Okamoto (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Bakugo and Kenta Miyake (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) as All Might.

A new My Hero Academia OVA (original video animation) has been confirmed and is slated to have a short theatrical run in Japan starting on Oct. 20. The story will focus on third-year UA student and member of the Big Three, Mirio Togata. Furthermore, fans of Studio Bones' anime will be able to buy the home video release of Season 4's OVA -- "Make it!: Do-or-die Survival Training" -- beginning in December along with the first part of Season 6.

My Hero Academia is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
