The following contains spoilers for Invincible Iron Man #32, on sale next week

Ever since the news was released back in June that Tony Stark and Emma Frost of the X-Men would be getting married, fans have been wondering how, exactly, this wedding would take place, considering the two have not been dating in the comics before this point. Well, in this CBR exclusive preview of Invincible Iron Man #10, you can see just how the proposal went down.

Invincible Iron Man #10 comes from writer Gerry Duggan, artist Juan Frigeri, colorist Bryan Valenza and letterer Joe Caramagna, and follows up recent events in the X-Men and Invincible Iron Man comics tied to the Fall of X crossover event. The anti-mutant organization, Orchis, attacked the X-Men at the annual Hellfire Gala, the yearly celebration of mutantkind. During their attack, Orchis forced Charles Xavier to use his mutant powers to force most of Earth's mutants offworld, but Xavier didn't realize that the teleportation gates on the X-Men's mutant island were tampered with. He believes that he just killed 200,000 mutants (in reality, they were just scattered across the Marvel Universe). A handful of veteran X-men who were trained to resist Xavier's telepathy managed to escape, and have now moved underground, and are fighting Orchis from the shadows.

The X-Men are using special rings that can disguise their powers from the mutant-hunting Sentinels, and while using one of these rings, Emma Frost has gone undercover as Tony Stark's assistant.

The main plot line that has joined Invincible Iron Man and the X-Men titles (Gerry Duggan is writing both this title and the flagship X-Men title) is the villainous Feilong, a mutant-hating industrialist who has co-opted Tony Stark's Iron Man technology to use to build advanced Sentinels. Feilong has framed Tony's best friend, James "War Machine" Rhodes for murder, and is using that to blackmail Tony into submission. Tony has to act like he has been broken by Feilong, and has returned to alcoholism. Naturally, the X-Men want to take Feilong down, as well, as he is a major part of the Orchis organization.

In these preview pages, we first see Tony Stark begrudgingly go along with an alliance that Emma Frost has bargained into with Wilson Fisk, where the three of them will essentially take over the Hellfire Club, with Fisk now becoming the Club's White King. Fisk's wife, Typhoid Mary, was one of the mutants seemingly killed, so he is invested in taking Orchis down, as well. In these pages, Tony essentially grovels to Fisk to have him help clear Rhodey's good name.

Meanwhile, when Frost sees Feilong at a party at Tony's home, she decides to break her cover, removing her power-inhibitor ring to use her powers to effectively kill Feilong. Tony tries to stop her, insisting that she would be winning a battle, but losing the war by removing Feilong before they can cancel out his technology. She knees Tony in the groin, knocking him to his knees. Feilong walks in on Tony, on his knees, holding a ring, and, well, you get the rest.

We'll have to read the full Invincible Iron Man #10, out next week from Marvel, to see how the wedding goes down.
