The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 will feature a battle that unfolds across two episodes, if a new rumor is to be believed.

The rumor comes via Fellowship of Fans, an outlet with a proven track record when it comes to The Rings of Power scoops. It claims that the Prime Video fantasy series' second season will include an extended clash between the Elves of Eregion and Orc forces commanded by Adar (Sam Hazeldine). The rumor further alleges that Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) will both take part in the two-episode battle, with the pair potentially going toe-to-toe with Adar himself during the fighting. That said, as Amazon Studios is yet to officially confirm that The Rings of Power Season 2 contains an action set piece split across more than one episode, this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt for now.

Fans shouldn't have long to wait to find out for themselves exactly what lies in store in The Rings of Power's next batch of episodes, as the production appears largely unaffected by the current industrial action in Hollywood. Notably, The Rings of Power didn't go on hiatus when the Writers Guild of America strike was announced. Instead, the cast and crew completed the remaining 19 days' worth of filming without showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay present. Producers and directors Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri, Louise Hooper and Lindsey Weber reportedly stepped in to fill the void left by Payne and McKay on the set.

The Rings of Power S2 Wraps Before the SAG-AFTRA Strike

The Rings of Power was even less affected by the SAG-AFTRA strike, as principal photography on Season 2 wrapped prior to the strike being called. In theory, this means that The Rings of Power's second season has now moved into the post-production phase of its development cycle and remains on track for its 2024 release window. Other factors could still delay the show's sophomore outing, however. This includes how effectively post-production can proceed without Payne and McKay's involvement, although it's possible Brändström, Hamri, Hooper, and Weber will assume these responsibilities, as well.
