CMON has announced their next board game project coming to Kickstarter, and it's based on DC Comics' zombie storyline, DCeased.

While minimal details about the board game adaptation are available, CMON has released its pre-launch Kickstarter page for people to sign up for and has provided a small teaser trailer. The title has also been confirmed to use the Zombicide engine that CMON is known for. Previously, the company had used the engine to make special DC Comics packs for other board game titles and did an adaptation of the beloved Marvel Zombies.

The Terror Of DCeased

The Marvel board game grossed over nine million on Kickstarter. CMON was also able to do expansions for the game, and they'd likely do the same for its adaptation of DCeased. While the full details of the Kickstarter won't be unveiled until launch, those who back it will get rewards based on the amount of money they pledge.

DCeased was a unique property for DC Comics when it first dropped. It was written by Tom Taylor, who is famous for his "Elseworlds" stories like Injustice and Dark Knights of Steel. The premise puts a unique twist on the zombie outbreak formula. The Justice League fought off Darkseid on Apokolips only to realize too late that Cyborg had been kidnapped and infected with the Anti-Life Equation. The fusion of Cyborg's tech with the equation creates a special "virus" that can infect people through screens, and the population of Earth is decimated almost instantly.

Those who aren't immediately infected can be turned into zombies via bites, further lowering the population count. One of the biggest twists in the series is that many of the "core DC heroes" are killed by the virus or infected, and thus, new heroes are forced to step up or assume new roles, such as Black Canary becoming a Green Lantern after the death of Hal Jordan. The series was so popular that it got multiple sequels and spinoff series to flesh out the world and the struggles for survival.

The board game won't dive that deeply into the lore, but it will pit the survivors against those who are infected.
