Branching off with Spectacular Spider-Man in 1968, Marvel began using multiple comic series to tell Spider-Man's story. Both the original comic, The Amazing Spider-Man, and the newer series followed Peter Parker's adventures — each offering a unique glimpse into the young hero's life.

By running multiple comic series a month, Marvel could deliver more Spider-Man content to eager fans and tell several adventures simultaneously. This trend continued over the decades, and soon Marvel created comic series for the Web-Slinger's allies and enemies. From Miles Morales: Spider-Man to Venom, Spidey's fans have tons of excellent comics to look forward to every month.

Current Spider-Man Comics

Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 6) #33 by Zeb Wells, Patrick Gleason, Marcio Menyz, and VC's Joe Caramagna

spider-man in his black suit stalking the last son of kraven from a web high above

The Last Son of Kraven is back, the Queen Goblin has been freed from Norman Osborn's sins, and that same evil has been gruesomely thrust into none other than Peter Parker. Now, the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a thing of the past. Meanwhile, the heir to the mantle of Kraven the Hunter has quickly become the hunted.

Putting Spider-Man back in his black costume (that isn't the Venom symbiote), Amazing Spider-Man #33 stands as one of the darkest turns the Wall-Crawler's current storyline could have taken. Spider-Man's quest for vengeance against the Last Son of Kraven calls back to one of the most harrowing arcs the Wall-Crawler has ever lived through — forcing his prey to relive various moments from 1987's Kraven's Last Hunt.

Spider-Gwen Annual #1 by Karla Pacheco, Rosi Kämpe, Marika Cresta, Irma Kniivila, and VC's Ariana Maher

spider-gwen and white fox fighting in front of an ominous blue glow during the contest of chaos

Spider-Gwen Annual #1 drops readers right into the middle of a heated high fantasy battle between its titular hero and Tiger Divion's very own White Fox, but neither of them knows why. Unsurprisingly, this is because both have become the latest contestants in Agatha Harkness' Contest of Chaos. No matter how much they would rather work together to escape than fight, laying down their arms simply isn't an option.

As a standalone issue, Spider-Gwen Annual #1 doesn't break new ground in terms of storytelling or shocking revelations, but it exemplifies why fans love this version of Gwen Stacy to begin with. Apart from showcasing one of the Spider-Verse's most iconic characters, this entry in Contest of Chaos gives White Fox a rare and much needed chance to shine, even if only one of them gets to walk away as the victor.

Venom (Vol. 5) #25 by Al Ewing, Sergio Dávila, Sean Parsons, Ken Lashley, Cafu, Julius Ohta, Frank D'Armata, and VC's Clayton Cowles

venom after being combined with bedlam in his four armed form battling doctor doom

Eddie Brock's latest journey has taken him across time and space to confront versions of himself. Now he is finally set to take on someone else. That someone is none less than Doctor Doom, whose disdain for the King in Black ultimately results in the two taking yet another explosive journey through time together.

Now trapped in some far-off era with one of Marvel's worst villains, Eddie Brock has to battle against Doom to get where he needs — all without letting the villain out of his grasp. Making matters more complicated, Eddie is still trapped within the looping timeline of the life he's already led, even if he isn't aware of it. This alone calls all of Eddie's past accomplishments into question. More importantly, it makes it that much harder to imagine any victories will have a meaningful impact.

Hallow's Eve #5 by Erica Schultz, Michael Dowling, Brian Reber, and VC's Joe Caramagna

hallow's eve standing atop a pile of defeated foes all wearing her various magical masks

Just as Ben Reilly's transformation into Chasm shifted his character into entirely new territory, his longtime love Janine Godbe's turn as the magical mask wielding antihero Hallow's Eve has pushed her into a lifestyle she never imagined. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean things have gotten any easier, especially when the villainous Beyond Corporation is back to terrorize her in every way possible.

Unsurprisingly, Hallow's Eve isn't as incapable or naïve as her pursuers would like to believe. While this chapter of her story hasn't worked out the way she wanted it to, it opens the door for new and exciting things in her future, and Spider-Man is sure to find himself wrapped up in them before long.

Silk (Vol. 5) #5 by Emily Kim, Ig Guara, Ian Herring, and VC's Ariana Maher

silk running from an army of zombies who appear to be emerging from a 60s horror film

After fighting her way out of a mystically induced coma and the myriad of genre-laden dreamscapes that came along with it, Cindy Moon, aka Silk, has finally come face-to-face with the villain behind it all. Unfortunately, that same nemesis has been unwittingly merged with the very demon she had hoped to command.

This leaves an already battered Silk to battle a literal monster from her worst nightmares. Luckily, Cindy isn't alone in these endeavors. Allies ranging from the familiar to all too unlikely have come to her aid. Whether they all stick around in the end remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that this series has made Silk's world bigger than it ever has been.

Spine-Tingling Spider-Man #0 by Saladin Ahmed, Juan Ferreyra, VC's Joe Sabino, and VC's Joe Caramagna

spider-man as he appears hovering over an ominous mass of branches on the cover of spine tingling spider-man 0

When a dark lullaby worms its way into Peter Parker's head, he thinks it is an unusual, albeit disturbing phenomenon that will eventually sort itself out. When that same lullaby washes over the citizens of New York City, it becomes clear something is terribly wrong, prompting the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to embark upon one of his most terrifying missions yet.

Though the events of Spine-Tingling Spider-Man have been seen before when the series was first published in 2021 as a digital Marvel Infinity Comic, this is the first time that readers have been able to get their hands on a print version of the story. Apart from glimpsing into the darker corners of the titular hero's world, Spine-Tingling Spider-Man puts a whole new spin on the legacy of one of his oldest villains, and it is one that longtime fans will find as apt as it is outright disturbing.

Venom Annual #1 by Alyssa Wong, Sergio Dávila, Sean Parsons, Elisabetta D'Amico, Ceci De La Cruz, and VC's Travis Lanham

venom battling deadpool above the streets of new york city in the contest of chaos

Both Venom and Deadpool have gone through some major changes in recent months, though neither has done so for the better. While the Merc with a Mouth is more than happy to settle into life as part of a whole new household, Dylan Brock has been consumed with the hunt for whatever version of his father has turned their world inside out.

This alone would be enough to set Venom and Deadpool up for a brutal confrontation. However, bumping into one another under the unseen guidance of Agatha Harkness ensures things go from bad to worse that much faster. Surprisingly, the battle between these two takes the title "Contest of Chaos" more literally than most others. At that rate, the amount of death and destruction Venom and Deadpool unleash is far less than what most fans would expect, even if the action is even more explosive, given the circumstances.

Red Goblin #8 by Alex Paknadel, Chris Campana, Roberto Poggi, David Curiel, and VC's Joe Caramagna

Between the resurgence of the Goblin Nation, the abduction of his best friend Tim, and losing control of the Rascal symbiote, Normie Osborn's life has become a whirlwind of upsetting circumstances and devastating developments. On top of everything else, both his mother Liz Allan and his grandfather Norman Osborn can only afford to help him so much while each faces their own superpowered dilemmas.

Luckily, Normie Osborn has none other than Miles Morales, aka Spider-Man, right at his side to help him save his friend and himself. Or rather, it would if that was the full extent of what Normie has in mind for the mission ahead of them. Unfortunately, Normie has no plans of stopping with simply saving lives. His willingness for lethal revenge could push him over a line there's no coming back from.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #10 by Cody Ziglar, Partha Pratim, Federico Sabbatini, Bryan Valenza, and VC's Cory Petit

miles morales being pulled by a web through the streets of nyc by agent gao's resident speedster

Following an explosive, near lethal encounter with the Hobgoblin, the titular hero of Miles Morales: Spider-Man #10 has never needed a day off more than he does now. He has also never needed someone to talk so badly, which makes being able to discuss his issues with Dr. Sasquatch all the better. Of course, things can't all be looking up for any version of Spider-Man, especially not one with an entire government agency on his tail.

For all the good he has done and all the accomplishments he has made, Miles Morales' career as Spider-Man is still very much against the law. Agent Gao and her Cape Killers task force have made bringing in Spider-Man their number one priority. Their latest recruit, the speedster Hightail, is ready to prove just how valuable of an asset she can be by attempting to do so single-handedly.

Cult of Carnage: Misery #4 by Sabir Pirzada, Francesco Mortarino, Protobunker's Dono Sánchez-Almara, Fer Sifuentes-Sujo, Java Tartaglia, and VC's Joe Sabino

misery facing off against the madness symbiote who has multiple heads reared at her

Liz Allan has been through a lot in the past few months. She got involved in the middle of the latest war between Alchemax and the Life Foundation, and she unwittingly became the latest symbiote superhero to grace the Marvel Universe. Along with all of that has come plenty of chances for confrontation, not just between herself and her enemies, but between her and the deeply repressed memories she thought she buried years ago.

By sending readers on a trip through Liz's most painful memories, Cult of Carnage: Misery #4 digs directly into the heart of her character, uncovering the tragic truths behind her most important relationships. These revelations might take Liz out of the action for the time being, but they help her realize how strong she has always been.

Spider-Man Annual #1 by Stephanie Phillips, Alberto Foche, Raúl Angulo, and VC's Joe Caramagna

spider-man leaping into battle against wolverine, who has his claws bared against his fellow hero

The latest Spider-Man Annual not only celebrates another year of stellar stories starring Marvel's premiere Wall-Crawler, it also kicks off the next great Marvel Comics battle royale: the Contest of Chaos. When Spider-Man is pulled through a mysterious portal to some faraway jungle, it's immediately clear he's in over his head. When Wolverine joins him, it becomes just as clear that their shared adventure is one from which there can only emerge a single victor.

Like other classic Marvel crossovers of the same ilk, Contest of Chaos is slated to pit the greatest Marvel heroes against one another in grueling combat. Of course, none of these heroes have any idea why they have been brought together in this manner. Starting the action off with Spider-Man all but ensures the race for answers will be just as astonishing as the race towards the event's next confrontation.

Spider-Man: India (Vol. 2) #3 by Nikesh Shukla, Elisabetta D'Amico, Tadam Gyadu, Scott Hanna, Neeraj Menon, and VC's Joe Caramagna

spider-man india seen swinging from a web on a news alert on the screen of someone's phone

Over the course of Pavitr Prabhakar's latest solo title, his reputation as Spider-Man is stripped down and subverted by the villains who would profit off his people's suffering. Worse still, the same people who are going to be harmed by Giricorp's plans are the ones who have turned on him, leaving Pavitr no choice but to give up his career of costumed crime-fighting.

This isn't necessarily a problem, especially not when Pavitr is still dedicated to helping under his own name where he can. However, his decision leaves his neighbors largely defenseless against villains such as the Lizard, let alone Giricorp's unfeeling corporate cronies. Luckily, Pavitr isn't one to give up that easily, even if he has to fight the good fight in ways he normally would have never considered.

Death of the Venomverse #4 by Cullen Bunn, Gerardo Sandoval, Victor Olazaba, Jim Campbell, and VC's Clayton Cowles

death of venomverse 4 cover full

Carnage is seemingly poised to amass what would be the last set of powers needed to push him into objectively unstoppable territory. The Anne Weying known as Agent Venom and her multiversal team of symbiote superheroes have come to what might be their last confrontation with the villain.

Fortunately, introducing Anti-Venom could be just what they need, even if it isn't likely. While this may not be the end of Agent Venom's war against Carnage, the developments that come of this encounter will be among the biggest yet in the ongoing saga against Marvel's premier serial killer symbiote.

What If...? Dark: Venom #1 by Stephanie Phillips, Jethro Morales, Israel Silva, and VC's Joe Sabino

the thing of the fantastic four tearing the venom symbiote from his face while wearing it as a black spider-man suit

Like so many other What Ifs before it, What If...? Dark: Venom #1 introduces readers to a world that is just the same as the one they know best, or rather that was until a single, momentous change in history altered its course. In this case, this turn out differently when Peter Parker removes his symbiote and leaves it with Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic.

The Venom symbiote finds something of a kindred spirit in the Fantastic Four's very own Ben Grimm, aka the Thing. Plenty of heroes and villains have made that same connection. Few if any have seen it culminate in anything as heavy-handed as what the Ever Lovin' Blue-Eyed Thing becomes by the time the dust has settled.

Spider-Man (Vol. 4) #11 by Dan Slott, Luciano Vecchio, Edgar Delgado, and VC's Joe Caramagna

spider-man and spider-boy leaping through the air together as a web separates the city skyline behind them

Ever since Bailey Briggs, aka Spider-Boy, was effectively spun into existence out of thin air at the conclusion of the "End of the Spider-Verse" story arc, Spider-Man's life has been filled with questions as to just who this young hero is. More importantly, Spider-Man has been wracked with questions of how he ever let a ten-year-old fight crime by his side.

Now, all of those questions are ready to be answered in the pages of Spider-Man #11. Unfortunately for Peter Parker, the answers he gets aren't all that he had hoped for, and many of them leave him with even greater concerns about how he could ever have a proper kid sidekick of his own. As reasonable as that might be, it does nothing for Bailey, who's still adjusting to life in a world that doesn't remember he ever existed. The possibility of being shunned by the mentor he can't get through to is the next worst thing that could happen to him.

Carnage (Vol. 3) #14 by Alex Paknadel, Fran Galán, Federico Sabbatini, Erick Arciniega, and VC's Joe Sabino

Carnage pummels Spider-Man (Miles Morales) on Marvel's Carnage (Vol. 3) #14 cover

Carnage (Vol. 3) doesn't pull its punches, delving into the darker corners of the Spider-Man universe. Cletus Kasady has taken over thousands of New York residents, prompting them to assault each other and spread chaos throughout the city. Feilong has dispatched his Stark Sentinels to assist with quelling the riots, but it won't do much good if Kasady can simply control new victims via the Stark network.

Part 5 of Marvel's Carnage Reigns event, Carnage (Vol. 3) #14 follows Miles Morales, Red Goblin, and the Cape Killers as they work to hold off the violent rioters, rescue innocents, and take down Kasady himself. Red Goblin has a daring plan that could weaken Kasady, but with all the upgrades the serial killer keeps acquiring, it's anyone's guess whether their plan will be enough.

Venom: Lethal Protector II #5 by David Michelinie, Farid Karami, Arif Prianto, and VC's Travis Lanham

doctor doom being enveloped by the venom symbiote as he rips it away from Eddie Brock

Venom: Lethal Protector II #5 finishes its latest addition to the history of Eddie Brock and Venom's rise from abject villainy to firm antihero status. Unfortunately for them, it does so by stripping the former of the latter and leaving it in the control of none other than Latveria's very own superpowered dictator: Doctor Doom.

While Doctor Doom is happy to revel in the power afforded to him by the Venom symbiote, Eddie must lean on his raw human talents and impeccable allies to disrupt the villain's schemes and steal back what's rightfully his. Of course, saving the world never comes easy, especially when there are no powers at Eddie's command to help him along the way.

While Agent Venom is already busy hunting down Carnage in the pages of Death of the Venomverse, that isn't the full extent of her duties as the Multiverse's premiere symbiote super sleuth. Not every other version of Venom she crosses paths with is cut out for the big leagues, but there are still plenty who have exactly what it takes. Extreme Venomverse #5 introduces more than a few of them in smashing style.

As Jeff the Landshark and Kate Bishop discover the pratfalls of hosting Venom in "The Rhythm of the Night," "Field of Screams" sees Major League Venom prove why he is the perfect heavy hitter for Anne's interdimensional team. Readers also get to experience the rise and fall of the King-Pain himself Wilson Fisk in "Spider's Eclipse," while the Mobile Walker V.E.N.O.M. of "Full Symbiote Panic" reimagines everything there is to know about the space symbiotes inhabit within the Marvel Universe.
