With less than a month until it hits stores, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has finally gone gold.

Insomniac Games confirmed the game's ready-for-release status via X on Wednesday, writing, "WE ARE GOLD! We're thrilled to share the news ahead of #SpiderMan2PS5's launch on October 20, 2023 with a few words from the game's cast!" The accompanying video, meanwhile, opened with a message from Miles Morales voice actor Nadji Jeter, proclaiming, "Spider-Man 2 has gone gold baby," before proceeding to "tell the whole world" about the good news.

From there, the video cuts between Mary-Jane Watson actor Laura Bailey commenting, "I love you and I'm so stoked for this game and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it," and Peter Parker actor Yuri Lowenthal, who offered a massive "Congratulations to everyone at Insomniac who put this together." All three actors will reprise their roles from 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man -- though Lowenthal and Jeter previously voiced Peter and Miles in separate Marvel games and shows -- in a more expansive open world that features Brooklyn and Queens levels alongside Manhattan. The video eventually concluded with a surprise appearance by Venom actor Tony Todd, who sinisterly reiterated, "We are Gold."

In addition to Venom, who was first teased in the 2018 game's mid-credit scene, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will feature villain appearances by the Lizard and Kraven the Hunter. An official gameplay trailer this spring teased a first look at Kraven and his forces tracking down the mutated Curt Connors while both Spider-Men attempt to protect him, only for Miles to grow increasingly concerned with Peter's behavior wearing the Symbiote suit. Harry Osborn will also have a larger role in Spider-Man 2's story, with Graham Phillips replacing Scott Porter from the previous game.

Recent Spider-Man 2 gameplay trailers have delved further into the rendering of key real-life and Marvel-exclusive New York locations, from Coney Island to Midtown High and Brooklyn Visions Academy. Not only will players be able to visit the three boroughs, but they'll have the freedom to "swap between Peter and Miles quite quickly" thanks to the updated PlayStation 5 hardware, complete with unique transition animations. However, in an interview, Insomniac Creative Director Bryan Intihar assured fans that Spider-Man 2 will retain the character's beloved power fantasy elements, stating, "One of the things we set out to do from day one was honor the fact that being Spider-Man is such a fantasy for so many people. They say anybody can wear the mask, but we want anybody to wear the mask and be good at wearing the mask at the same time. The barrier of entry should be pretty low."

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 arrives on PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023.
