The next case on All Rise isn't for the faint of heart -- and CBR has an exclusive clip revealing what's coming to the Hall of Justice before the startling episode airs Sept. 23 on OWN.

In Season 3, Episode 12, "Guilt Is a Bully," Judge Lola Carmichael is presiding over a case that pits defense lawyer Amy Quinn against intractable Deputy District Attorney Maggie Palmer (returning guest star Suzanne Cryer). However, more remarkable than Maggie's presence is what she and Amy are battling over. The case is one of the more uncomfortable ones in All Rise's final season.

Lola hears a defense motion from Amy, who wants several charges against her client dismissed, claiming that he wasn't a direct party to the crime that was committed. But mayhem and residential burglary accusations are the least of the defense's problems -- the whole case centers on Amy's client getting a black-market kidney transplant! While Lola must decide how many counts the man will face at trial, the subject matter is also very sensitive for Amy. Her former husband Collier was killed in the All Rise Season 3B premiere when his own health crisis took a turn for the worse. A trial that centers on chronic health issues and the flaws of the health care system plays right into the emotions she's already grappling with.

"Guilt Is a Bully" is also important because it's one of just a handful of installments left for the legal drama, which will end after Season 3. The episode also features Amy's fiancè and Maggie's colleague Mark Callan contemplating the future, while Lola continues to struggle with the fallout of kissing her ex-boyfriend Andre Armstrong in front of her husband Robin Taylor. Elsewhere, public defender Luke Watkins gets his own distressing news that may be related to a murder case he and Mark butted heads over earlier in the season. Will All Rise finally confirm viewers' long-held suspicions that the show has a serial killer on the loose?

All Rise has developed a loyal fan following for its portrayal of different aspects of Los Angeles' criminal justice system. In addition to organ trafficking, previous cases of the week have covered other timely and complicated topics such as police corruption, the COVID-19 pandemic and undocumented immigration. While the subject matter of this episode might make some viewers squirm, it's also guaranteed to give the characters -- and the audience -- a lot to talk about. The series stars Simone Missick, Wilson Bethel, J. Alex Brinson, Jessica Camacho, Ruthie Ann Miles and Lindsay Mendez, who just returned to Broadway in Merrily We Roll Along.

All Rise airs Saturdays at 9:00 p.m. on OWN, with "Guilt Is a Bully" premiering Sept. 23. Fans can catch up on previous episodes streaming on Max or Hulu.
