Squid Game: The Challenge, the upcoming Netflix competition series based on the viral series has a trailer and release date.

Fans of the Squid Game survival series must exercise patience as they await Season 2 of the series. In the interim, 456 individuals are gearing up to compete for a staggering prize of 4.56 million dollars on the upcoming Netflix reality TV program on November 22. The teaser trailer showcases elements reminiscent of the series and boldly declares this as the largest cash prize ever offered in the history of reality television.

While the trailer offers glimpses of the intense games from the series, this time around, all contestants are guaranteed to survive. The official synopsis reads as follows: “456 real players will enter the competition show in pursuit of a life-changing reward of USD $4.56 million. As they compete through a series of games inspired by the original show - plus surprising new additions - their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them.”

According to Deadline, there were reports of challenges on the set of the reality series during the filming process. Netflix also confirmed that, during the filming of the 'Red Light, Green Light' episode where players must evade a robot doll, three of the participants required medical attention. A spokesperson stated that the production had implemented "all the necessary safety measures." Deadline later disclosed that Britain's Health and Safety Executive had advised producers to adequately plan for risks but ultimately determined that no additional action was warranted.

The show is produced by Studio Lambert and The Garden. The Reality Show Is Based on the Incredibly Successful Netflix Series

Squid Game premiered on Netflix on September 17, 2021, and quickly garnered critical acclaim and international recognition. It achieved the status of being Netflix's most-watched series and held the top spot in 94 countries, captivating over 142 million member households and accumulating a staggering 1.65 billion viewing hours within its initial four weeks.

Furthermore, Squid Game received a slew of prestigious awards, notably the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film, presented to O Yeong-su. At the Screen Actors Guild Awards, it earned accolades for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, awarded to Lee Jung-jae and HoYeon Jung, respectively. All three actors made history as the first Korean actors to secure victories in these categories.

In the series, Seong Gi-hun, a divorced father drowning in debt and living with his elderly mother, receives an invitation to participate in a series of children's games for a chance at a substantial cash prize. He accepts and is transported to an undisclosed location, where he joins 455 other financially troubled players. Losing a game means certain death, with each fatality adding ₩100 million to the potential ₩45.6 billion grand prize. Gi-hun forms alliances with fellow players, including his childhood friend Cho Sang-woo and North Korean defector Kang Sae-byeok, as they strive to survive the games.

Squid Game: The Challenge will be available to stream on November 22.
